Das Land ist gar nicht so schlimm, wie ich es zun\u00e4chst bef\u00fcrchtet habe. Klar, es gibt hier bittere Armut auf dem Land, aber auch Wohlstand. Es sind bizarre Bilder auf den Stra\u00dfen zu sehen. Da \u00fcberholt z.B. ein dicker Luxusschlitten eine Pferdekutsche und von beiden gibt es hier viele. Nicht zu vergessen sind noch die Dacias und Ladas ohne Kat, die noch nach Autos riechen. Nicht, dass ich das bef\u00fcrworte! Der Zustand der Stra\u00dfen ist teils katastrophal. Kleine Stra\u00dfen durch D\u00f6rfer sind meines Erachtens nur mit einem Gel\u00e4ndewagen oder in meinem Fall mit einem All-Mountainbike zu passieren. Ich kam heut in einer Stunde nicht weiter als 8 km. Das ist auch f\u00fcr das Material eine ziemliche Belastung, deshalb nehm ich doch die Bundesstra\u00dfen mit ihren vielen Kratern, in denen man sich auch verstecken k\u00f6nnte…<\/p>\n

Die Menschen hier sind einerseits sehr freundlich (in manchen Restaurants sprechen sie flie\u00dfend englisch und deutsch), andererseits hab ich noch nie so viele Bettler gesehen. Gefahr jedoch versp\u00fcre ich hier im Norden des Landes absolut nicht. Die geht eher von den Hunden aus. Zwei Angriffe konnte ich bisher erfolgreich abwehren. Dank den Tipps aus meinem Radweltf\u00fchrer war das ein Klacks! Beim ersten wollte ich nur ein Bild von einem kleinen Fluss machen, da kam schon ein bellender K\u00f6ter aus dem Nichts. Zun\u00e4chst war ich erschrocken, doch b\u00fcckte ich mich instinktiv. Auf B\u00fccken kommt meistens was geflogen und das wissen die. Kaum in der Hocke, war der Hund nicht mehr zu sehen. Saucool! Der andere Angriff war w\u00e4hrend der Fahrt. Da liefen gleich zwei Stra\u00dfenk\u00f6ter hinter mir her, ich zuckte zu meiner Wasserflasche und spritzte denen Magnesiumwasser zwischen die Augen. Aus Mickey Maus und Ruhe war’s!<\/p>\n

Nun bin ich schon mitten in den Karpaten und morgen glei die erste Bergetappe seit Langem. Werd es ruhig angehen, im Hinterkopf hab ich noch mein Knie. Obwohl es wieder top ist, wei\u00df ich, dass da noch ca. 28.500 km vor mir sind… In dem Sinne kann ich es kaum erwarten, auf einem Gipfel (auch wenn es nur 1.500 m sind) wieder zu \u00fcbernachten und morgens den Sonnenaufgang zu genie\u00dfen!<\/p>\n

Das Wetter wird auch allm\u00e4hlich. Heute hatte ich 25 Grad und keinen Regen!! Schon fast zu warm nach den letzten Tagen…

The country isn\u2019t as bad as I initially thought. Sure, there is great poverty in rural areas, but there is also wealth. You\u2019ll see bizarre things on the streets. E.g., a big shiny ride overtakes a horse carriage, and you won\u2019t find many of both. And not to forget the Dacias and Ladas without catalytic convertors, the kind that still smell like cars. Not that I approve of this! The condition of the streets is partially disastrous. In my opinion, small streets in villages can only be passed with an off-road vehicle or with an all-mountain bike in my case. Today, I couldn\u2019t cover more than 8 km in one hour. That is pretty hard on the material and that\u2019s why I only take the state roads with its many craters after all. These are so deep that you could hide in them\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

On the one hand, the people here are very friendly (in some restaurants they are fluent in English and German). On the other hand, I\u2019ve never seen so many beggars before. However, I don\u2019t sense any danger here in the north of the country. Rather dangerous are the dogs. I\u2019ve been able to fend off two attacks so far. Thanks to the tips in my bike world tour guide, it was a piece of cake! The first one: I only wanted to take a picture of a small river when a barking cur came out of nowhere. In the first instance, I was scared but then I bent down instinctively. And after bending down, something is usually thrown, and they know it. I had hardly bent down and the dog was gone. Awesome! The second attack occurred while I was cycling. There were even two trash dogs following me, and I grabbed my water bottle and sprayed magnesium water into their eyes. Done and dusted!<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m in the middle of the Carpathians, and tomorrow I\u2019ll cycle the first mountain stage after a long time. I will take it easy, keeping my knee in my mind. Although it\u2019s fine now, I know that still roughly 28,500 km lie ahead of me\u2026 Having said this, I\u2019m anxious to spend the night on a peak (only if it\u2019s just 1,500 meters high) and to enjoy the sunrise!<\/span><\/p>\n

The weather is gradually getting better. Today it was 25 degrees Celsius and there was no rain! Almost a little bit too warm after the past few days\u2026
\nOne always wants what one can\u2019t have\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n
