<\/a>Es dauerte 1 1\/2 Tage und 140 km, um aus Los Angeles rauszukommen. An diesen Tagen gab’s Graupelschauer und jeder dachte, es schneit. Leute machten Videos, viele hatten Schnee noch nicht gesehen. Ein \u00e4lterer Herr erz\u00e4hlte mir, dass solch ein Wetter schon \u00fcber 40 Jahre her ist. LA und Schnee hab ich auch nicht erwartet… Dann entz\u00fcckte mich aber die Landschaft jeden Tag auf’s Neue. Wow-Momente, wie nur selten auf der Reise! Nutzte am dritten Tag zum ersten Mal \u201ewarmshowers\u201c und bin begeistert! Landete beim Don und seiner Familie, sie haben eine kleine Ranch in Joshua Tree. Einfach Spitzen-Gastfreundschaft, Don hat an seinem Bike auch einen kleinen Buddha vorne dran! Mehr Sympathie gibt’s wohl kaum…<\/p>\nEs ging dann Richtung Amboy, wo ich auf die legend\u00e4re Route 66 kam. Kaum Verkehr, Stille und unendliche Weiten! Kleine ausgestorbene Motels und D\u00f6rfer erinnerten an die l\u00e4ngst vergangene Zeit. Die Landschaft mitten in der W\u00fcste, umgeben von Bergen und Ruhe, l\u00e4sst einem das Herz h\u00f6her schlagen! Es ist schon eine Weile her, dass ich in solch einer sch\u00f6nen Gegend war.<\/p>\n
Kurz vor Arizona m\u00fcndet die Route 66 in die Interstate 40, eine Autobahn… Es ist erlaubt, auf der zu fahren, wenn es keinen anderen Weg gibt, aber Bock darauf hab ich wirklich nicht. So kam ich per Anhalter r\u00fcber nach Needles in Arizona. Von dort aus pedalierte ich noch bis Oatman. Beim Onkel Charlie, den jeder im Dorf kennt, kam ich unter. Ein supernetter \u00e4lterer Herr, der schon letztes Jahr zwei Schweizer beherbergt hat. Sie kamen auf Stelzen. Kein Witz, hab Fotos gesehen!! Seine Nachbarin hat sich nicht nehmen lassen, mich \u00fcber den Berg nach Kingman zu bringen. Was soll ich sagen, Wahnsinns-Gastfreundschaft!<\/p>\n
Weitere zwei Tage in ph\u00e4nomenaler Landschaft auf der Route 66 bis sie wieder in die Interstate m\u00fcndete. Zweimal per Anhalter nach Williams Town. Einerseits schade, dass es keine Alternativen gibt, andererseits super die Abk\u00fcrzung per Auto und man lernt nette Leute kennen!<\/p>\n
Nun bin ich hier und morgen geht’s zum Grand Canyon per Zug und Tag darauf zur\u00fcck. Warum Zug, wozu die Eile?? Ich verbrachte \u00fcber eine Woche l\u00e4nger in LA als geplant. Pl\u00e4ne… Die Simona kommt mich am 12.3., leider ohne Ehemann Simon in Texas beim Ron, seinem Vater, besuchen. Das sind noch sieben Tage und \u00fcber 1.400 km… Da gen\u00fcgt der Zug auch nicht mehr, um rechtzeitig anzukommen, aber den Canyon auslassen ist nicht, Vegas hab ich schon gestrichen. Wegen der schlechten Stra\u00dfenverbindung nutz ich Bus oder Bahn bis Holbrook. Von dort aus bin ich wieder auf der Ideallinie.<\/p>\n
Noch so am Rande. Es riecht nach Tanne und Fichte, das ist schon lange her! Der Schnee nimmt jeden Kilometer Richtung Osten mehr zu und es wird zapfiger.<\/p>\n

English:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Wild West!<\/span><\/p>\n It took 1.5 days and 140 km to get out of Los Angeles. During these days, there were showers of sleet and everyone thought it was snowing. People shot videos; many hadn\u2019t seen snow before. An elder man told me that they had such weather more than 40 years ago. I wasn\u2019t expecting LA and snow\u2026 Then I was delighted by the scenery every day anew. I experienced \u201cwow\u201d moments as seldom before on my journey! On the third day, I made use of \u201cwarmshowers\u201d for the first time, and I am thrilled! I ended up with Don and his family: they have a little ranch in Joshua Tree. Simply super hospitality, and Don also has a little Buddha on the front of his bike! I guess there can\u2019t be more sympathy\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n Then I continued towards Amboy, where I came to the legendary Route 66. Hardly any traffic, quietness and endless wideness! Little deserted motels and villages reminded me of past times. The landscape lies in the middle of the desert, surrounded by mountains and calmness, and make your heart go faster! It\u2019s been a while since I was in such nice surroundings.<\/span><\/p>\n Shortly before Arizona, the Route 66 leads into the Interstate 40, a highway\u2026 It\u2019s allowed to bike on it if there are no other ways, but I don\u2019t really fancy it. So I hitch-hiked to Needles in Arizona. From there I cycled until Oatman. I stayed at Uncle Charlie\u2019s, who is known to everyone in the village. He is a super nice elder man who hosted two Swiss last year. They came on stilts. No joking, I saw pictures!! His neighbor insisted on bringing me over the mountain to Kingman. What shall I say? Amazing hospitality!<\/span><\/p>\n Two more days of phenomenal scenery on the Route 66 before it led into the Interstate again. Two hitch-hikes to Williams Town. On the one hand, it\u2019s a pity that there are no alternatives, but on the other hand, the short cut by car is super and you get to know nice people!<\/span><\/p>\n Now I\u2019m here and tomorrow I set off to the Grand Canyon by train and return the following day. Why take the train, why the rush?? I spent a week longer in LA than I had planned. Plans\u2026 On 12 March Simona visits me, unfortunately without her husband Simon, in Texas at Ron\u2019s, Simon\u2019s dad. There are seven days and more than 1,400 km left\u2026 The train wouldn\u2019t help anyway to arrive in time, but omitting the Canyon is not an option, I\u2019ve already omitted Las Vegas. Due to the bad street connection I make use of the bus or train until Holbrook. From there I\u2019m back on my ideal route.<\/span><\/p>\n Just a little side note: It smells like fir trees and spruces, and it\u2019s been a while! With each kilometer towards the east, snow increases and it\u2019s getting chillier.<\/span><\/p>\n Bye and yeehaw!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
