Die ersten Tage nach Kathmandu durch Nepal waren landschaftlich noch ein Schmaus! Meine Route f\u00fchrte mich zu Beginn \u00fcber eine Seasonal Stra\u00dfe. 1.400 hm, 70 km \u00fcber schlechte Feldwege, dabei \u00fcberquerte ich mehrere kleine Fl\u00fcsse und bekam nasse F\u00fc\u00dfe. Bazi wollte mal abk\u00fcrzen… Danach lief es wie von selbst, im Flachen donnerte ich \u00fcber asphaltierte Stra\u00dfen mit bis zu 28 Sachen. Himalaya sei Dank! Am dritten Tag erreichte ich Lumbini, Geburtsst\u00e4tte Buddhas. Ein totaler Flop… Es ist heute nicht mehr als ein architektonischer Erlebnispark der buddhistischen Tempelkunst. Beinah jedes asiatische Land hat oder baut einen Tempel! M\u00f6nche, mit denen man sprechen k\u00f6nnte, suchte man hier vergeblich…<\/p>\n

Nun bin ich in der H\u00f6lle, zumindest was das Radfahren betrifft. Indien ist der Horror, Reflexe sind hier das A und O! An meinem ersten Tag hat mich ein Auto beim \u00dcberholen gestriffen. Ihm kam ein Bus entgegen, der gerade einen Lastwagen \u00fcberholte… Ich machte daraufhin die Bekanntschaft mit dem Graben. Es war recht weich, weil er voller M\u00fcll war… Meine Tasche hat’s ein wenig erwischt, ein paar Glasscherben steckten drin. Gl\u00fcck gehabt! Das Auto hielt nat\u00fcrlich nicht an… Der Tag f\u00e4ngt mit purem Stress an. Alles was sich irgendwie bewegen kann, ob Mensch oder Tier, ist auf der Stra\u00dfe. Ein rein wildes Gehupe, manche bleiben beinah die ganze Zeit drauf. Die Maxime ist dann, wenn man durch gr\u00f6\u00dfere D\u00f6rfer oder gar St\u00e4dte f\u00e4hrt. Alles bewegt sich im Schritttempo, alles hupt was eine Hupe hat, die sind so was von laut und grell, dass man kurz vor dem Durchdrehen ist! Motorradfahrer schubsen einen, um vorbeizukommen und es stinkt! Ich schwanke t\u00e4glich zwischen Frustration und Aggression. Unter meinem Halstuch, das ich stets \u00fcber der Nase trage, bekomm ich kleine Tourette-Anf\u00e4lle, die zum Gl\u00fcck niemand sieht und h\u00f6rt. Lunge und Augen brennen in den Abgasen der Autos und dem Rauch von brennendem M\u00fcll. Auf der ganzen Reise ist bisher viel passiert, aber das hier ist der Wahnsinn! Jetzt bin ich in Varanasi und hab, um es auf den Punkt zu bringen, so was von die Schnauze voll! Das Hostel, in dem ich die erste Nacht war, ist direkt am Ganges und an dieser Stelle werden 24 Std. t\u00e4glich Leichen verbrannt. So, ich roch es im Zimmer, das ich mir mit einem Salamander teilte… Nervlich kurz vor der Kapitulation, zog ich in ein anderes Hostel. Hier lerne ich viele Menschen aus aller Welt kennen, nette Gespr\u00e4che, bei denen ich zum ersten Mal abschalten kann. Das tut mir gut, denn als ich hier ankam, war ich stark am \u00dcberlegen, weiter mit Bus oder Bahn zu fahren. Nun fasse ich neuen Mut und gebe Indien noch eine Chance. F\u00e4hrt mich aber noch einmal etwas an, dann werde ich mein Gl\u00fcck nicht mehr l\u00e4nger strapazieren!<\/p>\n

Jetzt zu Varanasi. Bei dem ersten Spaziergang stieg ich schon mal in einen dicken Haufen Schei\u00dfe… Die Menschen halten mitten in der Stadt Tiere. In schmalen Gassen findet man an jeder Ecke K\u00fche und Ziegen. Dementsprechend sehen auch die Wege aus. Das Leben spielt sich komplett auf der Stra\u00dfe ab. Hier kommt man zur Welt, hier isst man, hier verrichtet man sein Gesch\u00e4ft und hier stirbt man. Der Fluss Ganges ist alles in einem \u2013 f\u00fcr Menschen und Kultur von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung. W\u00e4hrend an einer Stelle die \u00dcberreste von der Bestattung in den Fluss fallen, w\u00e4scht man keine 200 m weiter seine W\u00e4sche oder putzt sich die Z\u00e4hne… Es hei\u00dft, wenn man ein Bad im Ganges nimmt, sind alle schlechten und b\u00f6sen Taten der Vergangenheit weggewaschen. Ja dann werd ich jetzt mal tauchen gehen! Erst gestern brachte ich einen Inder zu Wei\u00dfglut. Bin gefragt worden, ob ich mein Rad verkaufen m\u00f6chte, meine Antwort war: W\u00fcrdest du deine Frau verkaufen? Daraufhin flippte er total aus und musste sich sichtlich beherrschen. Die verstehen diese Art von Humor nicht und ich musste mich x-mal entschuldigen, um ihn wieder zu beruhigen. Bl\u00f6des Missverst\u00e4ndnis… Das Wetter um diese Jahreszeit ist sehr neblig. Tag und Nacht ist die Sicht auf wenige hundert Meter begrenzt und es herrscht so eine tr\u00fcbe Stimmung. Die Temperatur ist stets \u00fcber 20 Grad, hin und wieder gibt’s auch mal einen kr\u00e4ftigen Schauer. F\u00fcr mich hei\u00dft’s jetzt, sp\u00e4testens am Dienstag, auf zu den letzten ca. 1.000 km durch Indien! Auf in den Wahnsinn…!<\/p>\n

In terms of scenery, the first days on the way to Kathmandu through Nepal were a feast for the eyes! My route led me over a seasonal street in the beginning. I covered 1,400 meters in altitude, 70 km on poor field paths; thereby I crossed several small rivers and got wet feet. Bazi wanted to take a short cut\u2026 Afterwards, it was an easy ride: Thanks to the Himalaya, shot over asphaltic streets with up to 28 km per hour! On the third day I reached Lumbini, the place of birth of the Buddha. A total flop\u2026 Today, it is no more than an architectural theme park of Buddhist temple art. Almost every Asian country has or builds a temple! You searched in vain for monks you could talk to\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m in hell, at least with regards to biking. India is a horror, and reflexes are essential! On my first day, a car touched me while overtaking. And a bus came towards it while the bus was overtaking a truck\u2026 Following this, I became acquainted with a ditch. It was rather soft because it was full of garbage\u2026 My bag suffered a little bit, a few pieces of broken glass were stuck in it. What luck I had! Of course, the car didn\u2019t stop\u2026 Days begin with pure stress. Everything that is somehow able to move, no matter if human or animal, is in the streets. Sheer wild honking, some people almost honk the horn without interruption. And it becomes even more intense if you pass through larger villages or even cities. Everything moves at walking pace, and everyone who has a horn, honks their horn. The horns are so loud and screaming that you\u2019re about to lose your mind. Motorcyclists push you away to get through, and it stinks! Daily, I waver between frustration and aggression. Beneath my scarf, which I always wear over my nose, I live out small Tourette attacks which luckily can\u2019t be seen or heard by anyone. My lungs and eyes burn from the car emissions and the smoke of burning garbage. During the journey, many things have happened until now, but this here is madness! Now I\u2019m in Varanasi and, to cut the chase, I\u2019m so fed up to the back teeth! The hostel, where I stayed the first night, is directly located at the Ganges and at this place dead bodies are burned 24 hours a day. Well, I smelled it in the room which I shared with a salamander\u2026 With my nerves being on the verge of surrendering, I moved to another hostel. There, I get to know many people from all over the world and we have nice conversations enabling me to relax for the first time. It does me good, because when I arrived here, I heavily thought of continuing by bus or train. Now I\u2019m plucking up new courage and give India another chance. But should something or someone fly in my face again, then I won\u2019t challenge my luck any longer!<\/span><\/p>\n

Now to Varanasi. During the first walk, I immediately stepped into a big pile of shit\u2026 People hold animals in the middle of the city. In small alleys, you find cows and goats in every corner. Thus, the ways look accordingly. Life completely takes place in the streets. You are born here, you eat here, you relieve yourself here, and you die here. The Ganges is all in one \u2013 of greatest importance for people and culture. While on one spot at the Ganges, bodily remains of cremations are disposed of in the river, people wash their clothes or brush their teeth merely 200 meters further down\u2026 It is said that if one takes a bath in the Ganges, all bad and evil acts from the past are washed away. Well, then I\u2019ll go for a dive now! Only yesterday I made an Indian guy see red: When he asked me if I would sell my bike, I answered: \u201cWould you sell your wife?\u201d Upon my answer, he totally flipped out and visibly had difficulties pulling himself together. They don\u2019t understand this kind of humor and I had to apologize umpteen times to cool him down again. Silly misunderstanding\u2026The weather around this time of the year is rather foggy. Day and night sight is limited to a few hundred meters only and the mood is cloudy. Temperature is always above 20 degrees, and now and then it rains heavily. For me it\u2019s time \u2013 at the latest on Tuesday \u2013 to start with the last approx. 1,000 km through India! Off to madness\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n
