Eins vorweg, die Landshuter Allee in M\u00fcnchen ist ein reiner Luftkurort im Vergleich zu hier. Nach wenigen Metern Radfahren in dem Verkehrschaos ist man schon mit Staub bedeckt, die Augen brennen und man hat so ein Kratzen im Hals…<\/p>\n

An sich ist die Stadt schon fast romantisch mit ihren kleinen Gassen und den beeindruckenden Tempeln. Die Swayambhunath Stupa zum Beispiel, die eher als der Affentempel bekannt ist. Es ist ein dicht bewachsener Berg mitten in der Stadt auf dem es unz\u00e4hlige Affen gibt, daher auch der Name. Oder die Sadhus, die an manchen Orten abh\u00e4ngen. Die meisten sind angenehme, verrauchte Typen. Ein paar wollen nur Geld… 80 % der nepalesischen Bev\u00f6lkerung ist Hindu, die anderen sind Buddhisten, Moslems und ein paar Christen. Ich erw\u00e4hne es deshalb, weil ich aus Versehen in eine Art Beerdigung geraten bin. Da brannten mehrere Feuer am Fluss, an dem auch ein Hindutempel war. Nun, da brannten Leichen… Unglaublicher Gestank, inklusive einem kleinen Schock! Andere L\u00e4nder, andere Sitten sag ich da nur.<\/p>\n

Nicht zu verschweigen sind auch die bittere Armut und der M\u00fcll. Die Fl\u00fcsse riecht man, bevor sie zu sehen sind… An diesen verm\u00fcllten Ufern leben Menschen in, ja wie soll man sagen, aus M\u00fcll errichteten Behausungen. K\u00fche suchen im brennenden M\u00fcll nach was Essbarem und irgendwie schockt mich das hier nicht mehr… Genug davon!<\/p>\n

Die Menschen, denen man hier begegnet, sind sehr zuvorkommend und sie l\u00e4cheln viel mehr als in unseren Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerzonen! Nette, lockere Gespr\u00e4che ergeben sich t\u00e4glich. Ihr denkt euch jetzt, klar, sie riechen Geld, aber so ist das nicht. In anderen L\u00e4ndern hab ich oft diese Lunte im Gespr\u00e4ch gerochen, hier nicht. Eh seltsam, dass viele hier hervorragend englisch sprechen. Hab mal einen Blick auf die Karte geworfen und festgestellt, dass es hier mehr Schulen gibt als bei uns Apotheken. Ziemlich seltsam, diese Armut und die unz\u00e4hligen Schulen…<\/p>\n

Ja, ist das schon ein Vorgeschmack auf Indien…? Kulturreich, bunt und chaotisch. Was ich hier noch, au\u00dfer den Menschen, loben m\u00f6chte, ist die K\u00fcche, Architektur und die Frohnatur. Da k\u00f6nnen sich die bisherigen L\u00e4nder eine dicke Scheibe abschneiden! Aber dass man die Natur so vergewaltigt, bleibt mir ein R\u00e4tsel…<\/p>\n

Was mich betrifft, ich erhole mich hier pr\u00e4chtig! Die Erk\u00e4ltung ist weg und das Knie machte einen guten Eindruck auf meinen kleinen Radausfl\u00fcgen! Nehm seit Tagen keine Medikamente mehr und f\u00fchle mich startklar. Mein Plan ist jetzt am Freitag Richtung Lumbini zu radl’n, dort kam der Buddha auf die Welt. Es ist zwar nur ein Dorf, aber das passt mir ganz gut. Mag keine St\u00e4dte mehr, sie sind irgendwie alle gleich. Danach ab nach Indien, zun\u00e4chst \u00fcber Gorakhpur nach Varanasi. Es soll ein Hindu-Pilgerort am Ganges sein und die erste Gro\u00dfstadt. Von dort geht’s Richtung Kalkutta, von wo ich dann nach Bangkok fliegen werde. Bangladesch ist leider gestrichen, weil der Flug von Indien bedeutend billiger ist… Schei\u00df-Geld..!<\/p>\n

Zum Schuss m\u00f6chte ich noch Ines, Jens, Raimund und Heike danken! Hab die Vier hier in Kathmandu am ersten Tag kennen gelernt, sie nahmen mein Winterequipment mit nach Deutschland! Merci f\u00fcr die Aktion!<\/p>\n

In dem Sinne sag ich wieder Servas! Meld mich wieder, wenn ein Rechner zu sehen ist.<\/p>\n

PS: Hier herrscht Linksverkehr. Das hab ich erst ca. 30 km nach der Grenze geschnallt. Hatte keine Ahnung davon… Das billigste Bier hier ist L\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u. Da soll einer die Welt verstehen…<\/p>\n

Kathmandu!<\/span><\/p>\n

One thing ahead: The street \u201cLandshuter Allee\u201d in Munich simply is a climatic spa compared to here. After a few meters of cycling in the traffic chaos, you\u2019re covered with dust, your eyes burn and you have a sore throat\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The city itself is almost romantic with its small alleys and impressive temples. The Swayambhunath stupa, for example, which is better known as the Monkey Temple. It is a mountain abundantly covered with vegetation in the middle of the city, where countless monkeys live, for this the name. Or the Sadhus who hang out at several places. Most of them are amiable, stoned guys. A few of them only want money\u2026 80 % of the Nepalese population is Hindu, the others are Buddhist and Muslim and a few are Christian. I\u2019m just mentioning it because I stumbled into a kind of cremation by accident. There were several fires burning at the river where a Hindu temple was located. Well, there were bodies burning\u2026 A smell beyond belief with a little shock included! I just say: When in Nepal, do as the Nepalese do!<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, not to forget the bitter poverty and the garbage. You can smell the rivers before you can see them\u2026At these riversides people live in, well, how can you say, shelters built out of garbage. Cows look for something edible in the burning garbage, and somehow this doesn\u2019t shock me anymore here\u2026 But enough of that!<\/span><\/p>\n

People you meet here are very obliging and smile more than those in our pedestrian area! Nice and relaxed conversations come up daily. You might now think: Sure, they can smell your money. But it\u2019s not like that. In other countries I got this impression though, but not here. Strange anyway that many speak excellent English here. I took a look at the map and figured that there are more schools here than we have pharmacies. Pretty odd, this poverty and countless schools\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, is this already a foretaste of India\u2026? Rich in culture, colors and chaos. What I would like to praise here, besides the people, is the cuisine, the architecture and the cheerfulness. The other countries I\u2019ve been to so far can really take out a page of Nepal\u2019s book! But that nature is raped like this remains a mystery to me\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Concerning myself, I\u2019m just picking back up! The flu is gone and my knee made a good impression during my little bike tours! I haven\u2019t taken any medicine for days, and I feel ready to move on. My plan is to cycle towards Lumbini on Friday as the Buddha was born there. Though it\u2019s only a village, it suits me. I don\u2019t like cities anymore, they are somehow all the same. Afterwards off to India, first via Gorakhpur to Varanasi. It is said to be a Hindu pilgrimage at the Ganges and the first big city. From there I continue towards Calcutta from where I fly to Bangkok. Unfortunately, I had to delete Bangladesh from my plan as the flight from India is considerably cheaper\u2026 Damn money\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, I would like to thank Ines, Jens, Raimund and Heike! I met the four of them on my first day in Kathmandu and they took my winter equipment back to Germany. Thank you very much for this!<\/span><\/p>\n

Having said this, I say bye! I\u2019ll write again once I find a PC.<\/span><\/p>\n

PS: Traffic here is left-sided. I only got it after approximately 30 km after I had crossed the border. I had no idea\u2026 The cheapest beer here is \u201cL\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u\u201d beer. And now understand the world\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
